PS3 kills Blu-ray
The PS3 has been the conveyor of multi-media for some time, being the best valued Blu-Ray play on the market certainly helps it's goal, yet some consumers are finding that the PS3 is killing Blu-Ray.
No, not the brand, but early reports have it that the PS3 is slowly degrading Blu-Ray discs. Reports have it that 43% of all PS3's have an improperly manufactured a Blu-Ray diode that emits lasers at a 15% higher frequency than normal diodes. The immediate effects are not noticeable but after time, the higher frequency lasers degrade the disks and cause major effects in quality.
Our test product in the labs showed an noticeable decrease in video quality after one years worth of watching the disks. Our researchers have noticed a nearly 50% decrease in video quality compared to a newly bought version.
Now, Insider sources are telling us that nearly 43% of PS3 have the same error in manufacturing. Sony is aware of the problem and is trying to fix it undercover but has not publicly admitted the problem because of the huge repair costs. Not much is know about the topic more than what I have revealed to you. We will continue reporting on the subject as information comes into our hands.

Reliable Source - 3G iPhone Release
GeekSugar has said that a reliable inside source has said that on June 9th, 2008, the new 3G iPhone will be released. This is in line with most evidence, though the recent disappearance of iPhone stock drove speculation that the 3G iPhone announcement could come even sooner.

iPhone in Africa, Mmmm Safari...
In the past few months, many countries have gotten to use the iPhone. Most notably, Vodafone's agreement to bring the iPhone to ten countries, but this begs the question, Who's next?
Vodafone is a broadcaster in Africa aswell, so the iPhone in Africa may bring a comical meaning to the term "Safari." But apple has missed the point. Instead of focusing on which countries will actually buy the phone, they are trying to expand their reach farther into the world. This is a grave mistake.
40% of Apple's revenue comes from North America, yet the iPhone is only for sale in the US. Canada and Mexico are yet to legally see the iPhone. But this could all be part of Apple's plan for world domination, So only time will tell...

WWDC Keynote
Apple officially announced today that "a team of Apple executives, led by CEO Steve Jobs" would kick off Apple's Worldwide Developer's Conference (WWDC) with a keynote address starting at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 9th.
This year's WWDC will be showcasing both Mac OS X and OS X iPhone:
The five-day WWDC event, which runs from June 9 to June 13, will feature the first ever iPhone track for mobile developers with in-depth sessions and hands-on labs to fully explore the capabilities of the OS X iPhone 2.0 software, including the iPhone SDK and the App Store, a breakthrough way for developers to wirelessly deliver their applications to iPhone and iPod touch users.
Apple is widely expected to introduce a 3G-capable iPhone at this year's WWDC.

Successor to the iPhone throne. The Apple PDA
A far fetched idea, you may say, but it may be true. Apple's job offers hint at it, and it just seems reasonable to conclude that this is true. After all, Apple Employees have said that the 3G iPhone will come out soon, within the next week. It will probably have a 720x480 display, about 1.5x times the size of the iPhone, with a screen that takes up the whole surface. It will mark the return of the Apple's Newton, a 1993 Project failure.

Apple also seems to be giving users an option to fall back to EDGE speeds in order to prolong battery life, due to the higher 3G power consumption.
The 3G-capable iPhone is widely expected to be released in the coming months, possibly at the Worldwide Developer Conference in June.

iPhone has lived it's last days in the United Kingdom. No longer will the 1st Generation iPhone be seen in the areas of England, Ireland, Scotland, or Wales. It is a sad moment for us all. Although this could mean the new 3G iPhone will come out very, very soon.

Microsoft - Yahoo! Deal Part 3: Yahoo! Dies (Kind of)
Well the ambiguous Microsoft - Yahoo! Merger has been cancelled. After Microsoft gave Yahoo! an ultimatum. They said Yahoo had better come to the table by Saturday, April 26rd or get ready for a proxy fight. Well, the date has come and passed.
One week late Microsoft announced that they are resigning their takeover bid on Yahoo!. On that very weekend, Yahoo's stock dropped nearly thirty percent! Proving that Microsoft was Yahoo!'s only hope of making money. know that day to day stocks do not matter, but for a large corporation like Yahoo! to fall 30% in one day is amazingly horrible. And thus ends the soap opera that nobody watched. Alas, poor Yahoo!. I knew thee.

Voda-Fasta!
Vodafone is launching the... guess what... iPhone. In nine countries, Vodafone will bring the marvel of the century. So, the lucky countries are Australia, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, India, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey. Seems like an odd group to go for, but a huge market nonetheless. Users in some of these countries will have the choice to buy the iPhone unlocked for use on any carrier of their choice, so brace for the arrival of the iPhone.

iPhone va aller au Latin America... (/Bad French)
Well, here it is. The iPhone will be coming to Latin America, on the carrier America Movil. A grand total of sixteen, that's 16 latin american countries will have access to the almighty jesusPhone. The announcement, similar to Rogers' one about Canada, states that it will be coming "later this year". A vague statement, but a conclusive one nonetheless. And since I do not know a word of Spanish, now back to my French lessons...

Apple Releases New iMacs, No Blu-Ray
Today, Apple released new iMacs. The New Model Includes include faster (Penryn) processors bringing the low end up to 2.4GHz and with the top end reaching 3.06GHz. The high end 24" 3.06GHz iMac also introduces the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS (512MB) video card, but the real shock is no Blu-ray. Macscene reported earlier that apple delayed the iMacs for Blu-Ray. Apparently this is not the case.
"The iMac’s gorgeous aluminum and glass all-in-one design has been an incredible hit with our customers and is just one of the reasons Mac sales are growing three and a half times faster than PC sales," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. "With the latest Intel processors, a faster new graphics option and more memory, customers now have even more reasons to love the iMac."
The iMac's processors are equiped with 6MB L2 cache and faster 1066 MHz front-side bus (up from 800MHz). Specs are listed below:
20", 2.4GHz, 1GB RAM, 250GB Hard Drive, ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT 128MB. $1199
20", 2.6GHz, 2GB RAM, 320GB Hard Drive, ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO 256MB, $1499
24", 2.8GHz, 2GB RAM, 320GB Hard Drive, ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO 256MB, $1799
24", 3.06GHz, 2GB RAM, 500GB Hard Drive, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS 512MB, $2199

Laser Pointer Killer
Laser Pointers in Australia have now been banned due to several occurrences when they have been used in attacks against Pilots. They have infracted damage, causing temporarily blindness in Pilots. According to the Premier of the Australian state, "It is a gutless and cowardly act that could result in a horrific outcome. It only takes a fraction of a second for a pilot to be temporarily blinded and that could have horrific consequences."

The Jailbreak Conspiracy. Did Apple Plan This?
As most of you know the iPhone is the most expected apple product ever, and ever since apple started banning third-party apps on the iPhone, The iPhone developer numbers grew, thousands of developers flocked to apple stores to get one, two maybe Even three iPhone, just to Develop on them. The iPhone developer crowd grew, and soon people where buying iPhones just for the apps. But was this all apples plan?
since apple released the official SDK, it has been downloaded over one million times. The numbers wouldn't even be close to the state they are in now if there wasn't an established iPhone developer crowd. With accomplished hackers, programmers, and just plain guys with too much time on their hands, the iPhone became a smash hit.
ever since NullRiver brought out Installer.app, iPhone sales have Skyrocketed. People in countries where apple hadn't struck a deal with carriers got the iPhone, people that wanted to do more with there gadgets got more, and people that didn't want to pay AT&T's huge fees got what they wanted.
And thus Hundreds of company's from Microsoft to IBM downloaded the iPhone SDK to bring their customers more. This wouldn't have happened if there wasn't a huge crowd of people Developing for the iPhone.
And thus Apple's iPhone became a hit, Mostly because of Installer.app, and one might wonder is this to good to be true, this company did all of this just out of free will, This company did all of this that made Apple more Rich. We think not.

XBox Kills Babies
Monday afternoon, the Little Rock Fire Department responded to a fire that investigators say was caused by a popular video game console.
Millions of people own an Xbox and the newer upgrade the XBox 360, but many may not be aware of the possible fire dangers connected to the machines. Two people in Little Rock heard of the warnings only after their house nearly burned down.
Gamers like Carl Olson take playing video games seriously, some dedicating hours to it. "The average week probably a couple of days worth that's too much," says Olson.
Microsoft game consoles Xbox and its successor Xbox 360 are two of the more popular with millions of units sold world-wide, they're also possibly dangerous. "My XBox 360 has the rings of death, which means something gone wrong you have to send it back for repair. Generally it's over heating inside," explains Olson.
Monday, while no one was home at the Little Rock house on the 5000 block of Cantrell Road, it caught on fire. Flames charred the interior.
Little Rock Fire Department Captain Jason Weaver says investigators traced the source to the power cord of an Xbox 360. "It was melted and it looked like they had it against the wall in on edge and things like that need a little space to dissipate heat," explains Weaver.
This isn’t the first house fire that has been linked to Xbox. In 2005, the family of an Illinois infant who was killed in a fire sued Microsoft, and so did the family of a teen from Texas who was burned.
Also in 2005, Microsoft issued a recall of more than 14 million XBox power cords, citing fire concerns. It seems some gamers didn't get the memo or are just not taking the warning seriously.
"It seems really unlikely. I've been gaming for years and I haven't seen anything like that," guesses Olson.
Microsoft estimates the risk at 1 in 10,000 and recommends owners unplug the XBoxes. Other recommendations are to avoid bending the cords and store the units some place other than the floor to cut down on friction. All to make sure the dangerous action stays on the screen.
The fire Marshall estimates more than $100,000 worth of property damage at the house that caught fire in Little Rock.
For more information about the XBox power cord recall click on the link below the pictures.

MacScene Bashes Apple TV
The apple TV is one of the most celebrated apple products. The major selling point of this product is that it can seamlessly sync videos and movies to your TV from and unsuspecting computer, Apple of course should be perfect at seamless interaction by now but somehow they managed to screw up here. Movies are a pain to get on the apple TV. If you are one of the people who don’t buy movies from apple then be warned, you need to convert your videos to apple TV’s format before you can play them. This would be easy but unfortunately the iTunes converter only supports mpeg.
Apple has been known for their ingenuity but somehow they messed up here. Apple TV; syncs apple movies to your TV, ingenuous. I can think of many other products that can do this, here’s one, a vga cable! You must have wi-fi to actually get this thing to work well and if you do have wi-fi and a digital TV and a large paycheck and you what to get this thing then go ahead to it.

New Imac Delayed, Blu-Ray
As you know it has been a while since Apple has introduced a new iMac into their lineup. Early reports have it scheduled to update with the MacBooks but the date has passed. MacScene believes that the iMacs have been delayed because of Blu-Ray.
The MacBook's where released a couple months ago and since then we have had no word on the iMac update, but isn't it strange that at the same time the MacBooks/MacBook Pro's where refreshed, that Blu-Ray became the next-gen Format war winner, and wasn't there a rush of companies putting out Blu-Ray products. So could it be that Apple delayed the iMacs, just so they could add Blu-ray Support to them.
Since the iMacs don't use battery's, power consumption shouldn't be an issue. The only thing stopping the iMacs from getting Blu-Ray is, APPLE. Apple probably is working on an iMac with Blu-Ray to be released soon, maybe as soon as next week, Apple has had a history of releasing products on Tuesday's so keep your eyes open for updates.
The Blu-ray drive's probably need a new version of iDVD (or iBlu-Ray) so maybe compatibility with OS X is slowing Blu-Ray down. So keep your eyes open for updates!
also comment on this post whether you want Blur-ray in iMacs or not.

Intel's new CPU, QX9775 hits 6GHz
Intel's new skulltrail CPU and motherboard systems are off the charts! The motherboard offers space for 2 quad-core CPU's. Dual CPU's aren't that new, the Mac Pro gets it's 8-core configuration from dual Xeon processors, But xeon is not a consumer CPU. It was made for servers thus offers more power.
not the real story, Now Intel brings dual-CPU tech to the rest of us. (who don't have $3000 to give away) but that'sengadget already proved crysis is playable with these, but the true amazement is that the QX9775, new core 2 extreme processors have been overclocked, to 6 ghz. The still usable CPU probably has a heatsink the size of the moon (approximately) but in the tech world, a lot of space is given to house super-powerful machines that probably no one needs. We still applaud "K|ngp|n" on this achievement. No word yet on deployment your home and mine.

Microsoft, Yahoo Deal, Chapter Two: Microsoft Gets Impatient
Microsoft started getting impatient over it's $41 billion dollar takeover bid on Yahoo, on Saturday, April 5, 2008, Microsoft gave yahoo an Ultimatum of three weeks. If a deal wasn't reached by April 26, the software maker would go straight to the Shareholders with a less attractive price.
"If we have not concluded an agreement within the next three weeks, we will be compelled to take our case directly to your shareholders, including the initiation of a proxy contest to elect an alternative slate of directors for the Yahoo board," wrote Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer.
"If we are forced to take an offer directly to your shareholders, that action will have an undesirable impact on the value of your company from our perspective which will be reflected in the terms of our proposal," he wrote.
He went on rambling about, how Yahoo was loosing stock and popularity, and that accepting this deal was their only hope of survival, and Microsoft wonders why they never seem to be the good guy.
Apparently since the offer was made, it has declined due to loss of stock value to $41 billion. My Question is "Does anyone care anymore?" Yahoo and Microsoft are both companies that are losing popularity and user bases. Now, if they merge, they will become one large popularity-losing company.

U.S. Man gets 2.6 MILLION for Pizza.com
2.6 Million dollars. www.pizza.com. A US man just sold that domain to an anonymous bidder recently. He got the domain name for $20 a year, when the Internet was just in it's birth. He had hoped, that with his domain, he would get a contract with a pizza firm. Why did he sell it? He had heard that www.vodka.com was sold for $3 million, and decided to give his a shot. He says now, he regrets not buying more domains when he got the chance. This just shows that everyone can be a Millionare, not Just Jobsy.

We're Waiting: 3G iPhone
Promised for Spring 2008. Broken Promises, broken hopes. But maybe not. Over 80 Apple Stores Nationwide have run out of iPhone Stock, indicating a decrease or halt in iPhone production. Also, as Said in an earlier post, an Apple Insider, Walt Mossberg, has said that it may come in 60 days, and I quote, [...] it will be 3G in 60 days. And he's reputable. A famed colomnist for the WSJ, he was among the first to test the original iPhone in June.

iPhone in Canada - A Petition

RE: Petition for the sale of the Apple iPhone in Canada
The iPhone is a revolutionary cellphone, communications, and multimedia device produced by Apple Inc. that has sparked much interest worldwide. As Time and Stuff magazines' Invention of the Year in 2007, and ComputerWorld's second most important invention of the year, it has certainly interested customers worldwide, in particular, the ones living in Canada.
Apple iPhone was released in the USA on June 29th, 2007. Soon after, iPhones were introduced in the United Kingdom, Germany and France in November 2007, and in Ireland and Austria in March 2008.
However, the USA's largest trading partner and neighbour, Canada, does not have the iPhone yet. At the same time the customers of Rogers Wireless Communications Inc. have been receiving the following, apparently standard, response to their iPhone-related inquiries as early as in February 2007:
"Rogers is actively working with Apple to launch the iPhone in Canada as soon as possible and will be the exclusive provider of the iPhone in Canada.
Rogers will be offering the iPhone exclusively in Canada but launch date and pricing for Canada are not yet available. Other Canadian wireless carriers will not launch the iPhone; Rogers will be the only Canadian wireless carrier to offer the iPhone.
We appreciate your continuing patronage. Please contact us at your convenience if you have any further inquiries."
Now more than a year later, there's still no official release date for the iPhone in Canada. The purpose of this petition is to call for the support and introduction of the iPhone for wireless users in Canada, or at least for some official announcement as to the current state of the situation.
We, the undersigned, pledge our support to Rogers Communications Inc., that we would support the launch of the iPhone in Canada.
We pledge that if the iPhone was released in Canada by Rogers Communications Inc. and Apple Inc, we would purchase an iPhone along with a monthly data plan.
We pledge to spread the word to our friends and family to promote the sale of iPhones in Canada.
Please recognize the demand for the iPhone in Canada. Or at least, please give us a release date to look forward to. Thank you.
This online petition is advocated by the two largest iPhone-related websites in Canada: www.iphoneworld.ca and www.iphoneincanada.ca , together accommodating over 100,000 Canadian readers a month.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned

3G iPhone in 60 Days - Says Walt Mossberg
The long-awaited 3G iPhone will be released in 2 months, says Walt Mossberg. Mossberg, in a video, had said this statement. Mr. Mossberg is a reliable source; he used to be very close to Jobsy (That's Steve Jobs by the way).
At 6:53 in the video, he says the statement. Don't worry about the iPhone not having 3G, it will have in 60 days.

What is PwnageTool and Where can I get it?
1) What exactly does this program do?
Pwnage does almost anything jailbreak related. What it allows you to do is to create a custom firmware file, running unsigned code. What this means for you is that it will allow you to restore your iPod to a pre-jailbroken (pre-unlocked and pre-activated for you iPhone users) firmware file.
2) So how is this better than a program such as ZiPhone?
For one thing, instead of being a firmware specific hack, it should be able to run on any firmware. This means that any future firmware updates are open to jailbreaking immediately, rather than through firmware specific tools that need to be developed. While there is a chance that Apple will be able to fix it, it is highly unlikely.
3) So can I use this to put the 2.0 beta onto my iPod Touch?
Most definitely.
4) What else can this program do in terms of custom firmware?
Have you ever wanted to have a custom boot logo rather than the boring Apple one? Well now you can! Simply choose the image you want, create the custom firmware, load it onto your iPod and enjoy.
5) Is it possible to "Un-PWN" an iPod/ iPhone?
By simply restoring to a normal firmware, your iPod/ iPhone will be returned to it's fresh from the factory (software- wise at least) condition.
6) I've heard that it is only for Mac OSX, will there be a Windows version?
Originally, the iPhone Dev Team had said that it would be OS X only, but due to the work of cmw, one of the members of the team, is working on bringing it to XP. It should be released sometime in the very near future. (This post will be edited once it is released)
7) Where can I get this tool?

Iphone 2 Leaked?
Ipod-Observer posted this picture yesterday in which they believe to be a new iPhone:
These Images of the alleged next generation iPhone are beginning to surface but the source is still questionable. Apparently the new iPhone will sport a glossy black back, replacing the satin nickel look found on the current model. this source also states that the iPhone will drop it's black plastic end piece that covers the antenna. the image also shows the iPhone 8GB model. More information on this as news comes to us.

iTunes #1 music store.
Apple continues to be a ever important presence in the music world, first with the iPod, then iTunes and recently the iPhone, but today something special has happened, today Apple might have become the most prominent music vendor in America. Today Ars technica claims to have intercepted an internal email sent to a few Apple employees, The email congratulates the employees on making the store number one. The email also included a "excel" (not numbers) document which showed Apple passing Wal-Mart and becoming the number one music retailer in America: The iTunes Store leads the pack with 19 percent, Wal-Mart (which includes the brick-and-mortar stores as well as its online properties) is second with 15 percent, and Best Buy is third with 13 percent. If this information is confirmed to be true then apple is most likely the most influential retailer in music.
